S.S. Simpson has a degree in teaching: English and Reading middle school. She is originally from West Hartford Connecticut and moved down to South Texas many years ago. Where she lives, is known as the poverty pocket of America. She was bombarded with poverty, lack, and hopelessness. The school where she taught was gang infested, violent and full of under privileged kids. It opened her eyes to how blessed she was and how much she took for granted.
She and others started a street ministry called Chain Breakers where they preach the word of God and counsel broken, hopeless people. They meet in a park where the homeless reside and hopelessness abounds. She has organized with these individuals and know that God is their way out. We can’t choose our families but we can choose Jesus and the choices that we make.
Her endeavor is to build a temporary shelter for these distraught individuals so they will have a safe place to stay for at least a night. Desperate mothers with children have impacted her greatly. Her heart breaks for them. Camouflage is a book about one desperate mother and her son.
